Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580 8GB Hynix

Guys and Gals, I need your help

I have 2 Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580 8GB (11265-01-20G). One with Samsung memory and the other with Hynix.
I began modding the Samsung one and now is at 30+ MH/s. Switched to the Hynix one, and after modding, it is only at 19MH/s (without modding was 20 MH/s). The BIOS switch is in the correct position.

I have tried the following using Polaris (1.6.6)
* 1:1750 to 1:2000

* 2:1750 to 2:2000

* 1:1750 to 1:2000 and 2:1750 to 2:2000

The samsung one has been working perfectly modding only 1:1750 to 1:2000 (didn't have to patch driver) and some settings with MSI-AB.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

    i find hynix you have to take the 2:1500 and paste it into 2:1750 and 2:2000
    from my understanding, on hynix the 1:### does nothing. (i never touch these.)

    Using those values it goes to 0 MH/s

    Any other suggestion?

    Paste the following into timing for 2:1750 through until 2:2200 (if your card goes that high)
    777000000000000022AA1C00B56A6D46C0551017BE8E060C006AE6000C081420EA8900AB030000001B162C31C0313F17

    With this set...

    How many MH/s should show with this set??
  • sutheksuthek Member Posts: 324 ✭✭
    are you sure it's hynix?
    with cclock 1200 and mclock 2100 that should give you near 30.

    GPU-z (shows Hynix)

    With the latest settings

    I installed newest drivers from AMD (November 2017) and it hasn't improved.

    Now that you asked, I don't know if it's Samsung or Hynix.
    GPU-z show that the memory is Hynix but PBE shows that has Samsung and Hynix. Is that normal?

    did you try special blockchain drivers from amd, where the dag issue is corrected? maybe that's why you get only 22mh with dag160....

    @suthek

    We did it, now is @28.9 MH/s (before applying any change in MSI-AB). I flash each BIOS with Originals and started from 0. Upgraded the version of AMD Settings and change from gaming to computing and make sure that Crossfire was disabled.

    I want to thank you for all your suggestions.

    Yes, I had blockchain drivers (from Aug 23) before. The Samsung one was giving me 30MH/s without problems. I just installed version 17.11 (Nov 10).

    28.9 might just be what the card can do.
    samsung cards do MUCH better than hynix.

    (I have seen samsung top out at 32mh/s. I have seen hynix best case at 30mh/s)
    So I think you're in the right ballpark now.

    I think that strap can go to ram speed 2150 and you'll be in the mid 29's.

    Exactly. Now I have to lower the V. on each card

    now that they work properly, you should look into getting rid of windows.
    I moved to a linux based mining software and it's far more stable. (currently sitting at 4 days with zero restarts on 27 cards (3 rigs))

    in windows, I'd have the miner reload periodically, I'd have the computer restart due to windows updates, and various buggy behavior due to drivers loading funny.

    If you're scared of linux, check out simpleminer.
    takes like 20 minutes to get working and requires NO linux experience.
    Write the program to a USB stick. change a *.txt file on the USB stick to your email address.
    Done.

    Then the rest (claymore config) is all done via the simpleminer webpage.

    The card power settings in simpleminer are easy too. all done on the webpage.
    my recommended settings:

    voltage 890
    clock 1200
    GPU memory 2100 (hynix)
    GPU memory Powerstage "2"

    Update.

    I have been runing the rig for 330 hours without problems.
    31 MH/s - 74W
    30 MH/s - 87W

    Once again, thanks @suthek for your help.

    Did you swap over to simpleminer?

    @suthek Is there a way to make smOS work with amd and nvidia cards on the same rig?

    No. Just buy a second rig.

    No, I didn't. I'm still testing the hardware to see if every component runs ok. But that's an option that would like to try someday.

    Just want to share mine. Maybe I can improve power consumption?

    I'm running Adrenaline driver with compute workload enabled.

    RX 580 8GB Nitro+ Hynix
    1750 straps
    1250MHz core 950mV
    2200MHz mem 1000mV
    31MH/s
    Zero memory errors
    96W in HWInfo64
