Hi,
I don't know much about cryptocurrencies but I bought some ether during the presale. I managed to import my presale wallet and I see how much ether I have. What's the cheapest way to convert this to USD or any other fiat currency? Ideally I would like this in my bank account, or collect in cash
All the best,

Then convert your ETH to BTC at one of the exchanges and transfer it to your Coinbase account.
Then from Coinbase transfer the value to your checking account in USD, just as from Paypal.
I saw that with Kraken I can convert ETH to USD directly. Can I do it with any other services? I figure that would be the most efficient way, without paying conversion fees.
you can deposit BTC for Gold. You can take the invesment opp of gold and sit on it, withdraw to your local currency via linked bank acc, or take phisical delivery of you gold.
You can do this => Transfer your ETH to an exchange of choice, Poloniex or Kraken. Sell your ETH for BTC. Transfer said BTC to your BTC exchange of choice, QuadrigaCX for example. Sell your BTC for dollars. Transfer dollars to your bank account.
Thank you

To josechudm's question, what is the 'current' best exchange to use?
- Create an Account at one of the above exchanges (including Identity verification).
- Send Ethereum to the deposit address the exchange provides.
- Trade it for USD on the exchange. (~.25% fee or less)
- Withdrawal it to your bank account (no fee).
You can see a full guide of this process with pictures here.
