37MHs with GTX 1070, but how ?

SiddiusSiddius Member Posts: 14
Hello there,

i am quite new to Minig and read a lot about that 480 is good for minig etc, but i had some 1070 hanging around and so i gave it a try.
I found the following guide:

https://forum.ethereum.org/discussion/7780/gtx1070-linux-installation-and-mining-clue-goodbye-amd-welcome-nvidia-for-miners/p1

In which @kruisdraad said he made 37 MH/s with overclocking +285 & +1800 and "heavy tuning". Sadly he never mentioned the real clock timings but guessing he used founders edition it would be Base/Boost/Mem 1791/1968/9600 .

I overclocked my 1070 with micron memory (Samsung should be able of even more) to Boost/Mem 2150/10000 but i only reached 33MH/s. So i am wondering if anyone reached the 37MHs and which tuning else he made. Maybe someone can give me a hint where to look.

Im using:
Ubuntu 14.04LTS
Nvidia 375.51
CUDA 8.0.61
Genoil-cudaminer (master)

Thx

maybe @Genoil knows how he achieved this ?

can you use window 10 and have the same performance? Also, which 1070 did you buy?

I havent tried win10 much, still looking for the missing 4MH/s . Without much tuning and memory @8.4Mhz you get 27MHs , higher clocks will propably crash depending on the ram type (micron/samsung).
    I got the MSI 1070 Armor 8G OC .

Those settings you mentioned to OC your 1070, do those refer to the Memory transfer rate and Graphics Clock respectively? Just asking because i'm planning to run an ubuntu rig as well.

im running 6 evga gtx 1070 SC and im getting 28.5 each
what tweaks did you do to get 33?
  • monko760monko760 Member Posts: 1
I can get 33< from the evga ref cards with samsung mem and 32< from the evga superclock with micron on windoze using precision OCX. Seems about standard, I would love to know how he is getting the 37 as well.

is not very stable at 37 mh/s

Which is the most better price to get a gtx1070?

@Heisenberg99 did you manage to get 37MHs ?

I have the EVGA ones could you give me a few tips to get 32 mhs?

I'm looking to buy EVGA GTX 1070 with GPU Clock Speed 1594 MHz.. anyone using these to mine eth and what hash rate can I expect. thank you.

Seriously do you not read the messages above you. They're all roughly the same +1-2 MHs difference.

If you are 'new' don't expect 37, expect 30.

With a bit of overclocking you should see ~30MH/s ETH if your card has good memory.

What's better is sacrificing a few MH/s and dual mining, I can get ~29MH/s ETH and 40MH/s LBRY on a Gigabyte 1070 ITX.

thanks.. i did read above posts I specifically asked for EVGA as most of them have micron memory. and i'm not expecting 37 either :)

    Hi All,

I am new to this forum.
I recently started mining ethereum. Learnt quite alot here. Thanks all.

I have couple of Zotac Nvidia GTX 1070 mini. I am able to squeeze out 29.5MH/s for ethereum and 270 - 300MH/s for Sia coin after playing around for a while.

Settings are 75% power cclock +200 and mclock +650.
Sharing this info so that someone else can use it or can suggest better settings.

    Thanks

with nvidia-settings, comes from the prop nvidia driver

    I got 29.5 MH/s on windows 10.

can't get more than 30, it goes to 31 if I push harder but then crashes like every 10 minutes. 30 seems to be the limit right now, tried both Weeendowzzz and Linux (GC and CM), draws around 110 on dual mining for SIA. I rather have a stable hash rate over unstable for 1/2 Mh gain.

110? omg gtx 1070 is pretty bad at SIA right? compared to my rx 480 28eth/560sia.

Guys. I have ubuntu 16.04 and i have 4 gtx 1070. 1 is msi gaming x 8gb and 3 are asus dual x 8gb OC. They kinda all preform same. Like same cards. I can overclock with nvidia x controll but none of my cards can enter performance level 3. They are always on lv2 and on lv 3 i see they could have 400 mhz mem clock higher. Anyone know how to force level 3 on ubuntu when mining? I feel like i am not using full potential of my cards. Dunno how to ovrclock more. I cant just spam offset and make it 2000mhz + xD i guess its not sustainable. I run each card on about 29.5 to 31 mh/s on average this 4 are 120mh/s bit i am sure i could squeeze more out of them.

i have MSI GTX 1070 Aero. standard 25MHs with overclock (Samsung mem +700) can get 30~31 MHs. when i push max memory overclock its give me 38Mhs :) but crash 7 min. after. So 38 or 36 35 is possible but not stable.

My first pc with 2x GTX 1070 makes a constant 62-63 MH/s, according to the CMD window. I use "Ethminer 0.11.0rc1 for Windows", Windows 10 (1703) and latest Nvidia drivers. ethermine.org average stats jump around 62 MH/s, with more peaks to the uper end.

It is/was actually my gaming machine.

I use a Gigabyte GTX 1070 Founders Edition with Arctic Hybrid 3 140 cooler. The backplate VRAM cooler is complemented with little cooling blocks on the other side. I go with 60% Power Limit, -200 Clock, + 650 Memory (MSI Afterburner) ==> 52°C max while mining with 30°C outside temperature. The GPU takes 90W according to HWiNFO, don't know about the whole system tho.

The second card is a Zotac GTX 1070 AMP! Extreme with the good stock cooler and 50% Power Limit, -400 Core, + 650 Memory ==> 57°C max, 125W.

I guess, with the good cooling equipment, i could overclock more, esp. since both have Samsung memory. But less energy consumption and longer lifespan is more important to me.

I think, if i would push it anywhere close to 37 MH/s for any of the GPUs, I will see them burn in no time.

    i can do 43 on 1030 easy .. see like this :)

No way 1070 to reach 37 not even 35. And IF you reach 35 the whole pc will freeze in seconds. So it doesn't matter. I have 6 zotac 1070 (micron memory) and the best result i managed is 31. Yes it can go to 32-33 but the power that need doesn't justify it. More than that the computer freezes and you may need several boots to manage to log in to windows if you save these settings to boot with. I also have some 1080 ti which run 37-38 stable. I will say 39 is the MAX but again the power that they need for that or the fan noise is nah for me. Anything more than that you will never mine because you will have an unstable, frozen and full of blue screens computer.

    @zuzux Agree!
