hello @newtechz , basically, you have no limit... fisically ... other then fisical PCI-e slots on the Mobo... and even with this limits on the Mobo, you can use PCI-e splitters to put more than one card on a single PCI-e slot... so you could technically keep adding cards.... but you WILL eventually run into a Bottleneck when the speed of information needed for the cards is bigger than the that of the ALL the PCI-e Lanes on the CPU.... i never tested that so i don't know this limit...
But as long as the OS recognizes all the cards, you can keep on adding... but it will get to a point when its not worth it...
Other thing to consider is that the MINING software has a limit of GPUs it can address... normally 9... but it is a SOFTWARE limit... and it is possible to go around or to get a miner that supports more!.... _________________________
But for practical use.... Mobo with 7 PCI-e, will run 7 GPUs no problem!!! As long as the OS sees all the cards and the Miner also supports them!
@Josevora Thanks for all your information.. I understand. I did not make 4+ with ASUS H170 pro gaming. But I made 5 GPUs on ASRock H170 Pro4. I will buy MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING to try 7GPUs on.

So you have 5 GPU's working on the ASRock H170 Pro4?
Anyone tried the Asrock H170A-X1 it appears to have similar layout and is cheaper.

I had a rig that ran 7x RX480 no problem on MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING

Cool thanks. Ill take a risk with the H170A X1 then since its the same chipset and similar layout. Will report back on this thread if I get it to work with 5 GPU's.
