anyone had there ether go missing mine went after opening and closing my wallet/miner ;( however if i make a new address is there anyway to recover the lost bits ? I have noticed to backup the wallet its the same way as btc.
@Ursium Technically speaking how is it possible to "wipe the blockchain" because miners are supposed to mine on the longest chain. Do you change the build-in genesis hash in the client? If so miners that don't upgrade continue to mine on another blockchain?
@mquandalle: you start a new one and you mint a new genesis block Different builds don't speak the same protocol, eventually the old ones have 0 peers and die (like POC2 for example).

I will retry it tonight on the same system and on a Windows 7 VM, but I was wondering if anyone else has run into Windows 8.1 installation issues.
