Can someone point me in the direction to some good and fairly inexpensive plans to build an open air case for my rig? I've seen a few on this forum, but no list of materials or actual plans on what was used to build it. I'm looking at a 5 or 6 GPU rig, more than likely 5.

There is a picture in the OP of the Rig Porn thread - https://forum.ethereum.org/discussion/5594/rig-porn-post-your-pics/p1
Build 2 identical sides out of 1x2, screw on the long board and metal hangers. That's pretty much it.
I use a bit of wood glue on each screw spot, and then 2 wood screws of the right length.
Paid 5 pounds for a dish rack. Runs 4x7950 just fine.
You could put the power supply in the lower level and add another card.
The goal of mining is to make money. Go build custom loop water cooled PCs if you want to mod.
Who honestly gives a fuck how it looks. People are forgetting the goal of mining.
People spending hours to build rigs are also the same people who tweak for hours to get 1 more MH/s because they think is a modding / benchmarking contest.
News flash. Every hour of downtime tweaking and building costs you money.
If you want boring 24/7 hashing, go buy a bunch of ASIC and mine Bitcoin. I got those going too, no way near as much fun to mine with, lol. Just good cash cows.
Let me share my technical drawings with you

I can have all the pieces shipped to you in the continental U.S. for 0.75 ETH. You only need to drill and tap the holes for cards, mobo, and fans (if you want them). I've been using wood for riser and motherboard support, but this is not included (so it's up to your preference). Only a hammer and about 10 mins is needed to get this rock solid case together as seen in the bottom picture.

Here's mine. Done in an hour with a target shoe rack ($12) and few screws and $1.5 wood furring strip from homedepot. Can support up to 9/10 gpus.
I am using the 31" shoe rack. Though the 24" one would be a better choice for upto 7-8 gpu frame.
Great future now: multiples rig can be easy stock as you can see on pictures below.
All plastic parts can be 3D printed or order from website as kit. All files available on thingiverse or can be ordered here:

Or the new 4u server mining case holds 8gpu but you must keep the room chilled or exhaust the heat somewhere else just like data center or server rooms.
Pay in Eth or cc or amazon.
