Calling All Mining Specialists

Hello,

I am looking to invest 10k into mining.

I am looking for the optimum build which includes electricity costs at 10 cents per kWh.

If you have any build suggestions please include every single part as I have no extra equipment and will need to buy everything. I am talking risers, OS, everything etc...

I really appreciate the help and vast amount of knowledge on this forum.

Thank you

    Where you come from?
I can only compare with the price in my country.
    For 10k i would get around 700-800mh/s.
    There are so manny factors.
    A 390rig needs more power=bigger psu=more costs. 180mh/s for ~1500w
    A 480rig needs less power=smaller psu=less costs. 140mh/s for ~700w

    And so on.
But there are people here with more experience.

Alright, I think I am going to go with a 480 build.

Does anyone have full parts list for several 480 builds?

Here's a bit more useful information. I'm sure you have done the math already but rough calculations with this Ethereum calculator for others thinking of investing $10K.

    http://karldiab.com/EthereumMiningCalculator/

    Using this calculator with 6 x 480's (140Mh/s for 700Watts)
$1700 USD per rig, you might get it cheaper with a bulk purchase.
That would include H97 MB, cheap 4GB RAM and CPU, 850 EVGA gold, USB risers V5 a SSD and free Win 10.

With current value $13.03 USD, with 7 rigs, your 4 almost 5 months till ROI.

Not factoring in heat dissipation(AC or fans), new 20 or 15amp circuits, downtime, plus time to get 42 480's(currently sold out).

Of course there is always that chance the price will skyrocket.

Corrected a couple of the numbers and added more to the list.

The memory clock is much higher on the 8GB, is it possible for the 4GB to clock to the same amount?

I read that memory clock is the only factor

Also, are you sure 850PSU would be fine for 6 GPU?

Investing without spending own thoughts, i like that.
@Everyone, why do you even respond to those threads? Don't support this behaviour.

One of my rigs run with a 850 ;)
    The others with 1000w
    Undervolted yes, Stock no

    @Balgun
I like to help, and you can save much time with the help from others, and one thing i learnd most since iam mining, time is money, miningtime is more money xD

@Dr_House86 That is nice but I don't understand how people just ignore how forums work. There are possibilities to search.
And it is one thing to help others with a hobby but as this is also a way of investing i dislike the attitude of those thread starters.
"This is what i want, now tell me how to get there ASAP. I don't know anything about anything, so please be very specific."
You can find many threads like that over the last weeks. Ill better just leave the forum.

Sharing knowledge is how forums work.

Please do not buy parts for multiple rigs at once lol.
Start with one rig and see if you get the hang of it cause even the little things like getting 6 Gpus on one motherboard working can be tricky.

Also good luck getting that many 480s they sell out with in minutes right now :(

I am going to preorder them, no point in waiting also because the more I wait the more I lose

@NickLim And searching the internet is how learning works ;)

I do often help people here at forums and other places, but i agree with @Balgun that you shouldn't just expect people to give you answers when you know nothing, learn the basics first. You could have found answers to your OP with a very small amount of time spent reading through these forums, but if you're not ready to put some time and effort into your investment, maybe consider hiring someone to do the work for you. It only takes some hours to a couple of days to read up and learn how to build a rig or even a farm, and there are many forums and sites where components are discussed in great detail.

And if you ask a hundred people what is an optimum build, you will get 50 different answers, cause there is no such thing, except for what people perceive as such.

Buying parts for multiple rigs at once is a sure way to lose too, IMO. You'll have unused parts sitting around for ages while you try to get things working.

Even as someone that's built literallty 100s of computers, I would only build one rig at a time.
  • dlehenkydlehenky Member Posts: 2,249 ✭✭✭✭
@NickLim Accumulating knowledge is how forums work. Having it served to you on a silver platter without effort on your part amounts to the forum acting as your free consultant. @Balgun is saying you want something for nothing. There was a thread just like this 3 days ago. Why don't you look it up and read it? Look for a post by FeelTheBern.

Smart, I will do 1 build at a time.

For my first build I will do rx 480s.

Is all of these parts https://orca.tech/Newegg.pdf but quantity only 1 instead all I would need with 6 GPUs?

  • SmokyishSmokyish Member Posts: 203 ✭✭
The parts look fine for the job :) You could save a little bit of money getting 4GB RAM sticks, but if you're looking to re-sell at some point and the price difference isn't big, go with 8GB.

But spending almost 25% of your order on Windows is crazy... If you're going for a big build/farm, use Linux.

And as for learning, it's good to read up on before starting, or before your parts arrive, cause otherwise you'll propably run into some kind of a problem at some point, maybe at 6x gpu, risers or miner software or something else, so it's better to be prepared a bit rather than have to come to the forums to ask questions and wait for an answer when you do run into a problem

Wait next week for the RX 470. Might be cheaper and same speed.
