I place an order for an ASRock H81 Pro BTC at Newegg on Jun 26, and just recevied an email from Newegg saying it was no longer available. I contacted them through chat and they state it's been discontinued.
Checked a couple other sites, and it looks like it is indeed being discontinued. If you plan to get this board for your rig, you should buy it (or them) now.
newer chipset with newer features, better resellability (this is not a word, I don't know the proper word to use, resaleability? shoot me) because of said features. More usb3 ports, ram slots, supports more processors without a bios update.
One big thing I've noticed is the H97 anniversary only has one molex on the motherboard now, as opposed to two with the h81 pro btc. Not sure if this matters while using power risers or not.
I actually have an h97 anniversary sittin right here in a box from newegg upopened that I bought before eth crashed with plans to build another rig. now i'm just dumbfounded
I have 3 H97 and 2 H81 6 GPU rigs. The new H97 performs just the same, although I don't have 390's for power draw to test with a ribbon but the 7990 works. Has a newer updated BIOS, 4 USB 3.0 slots, more RAM slots, and only one molex. But your right, nothing that really matters for mining, at the moment.
You can directly seat a gpu in the 16x slot and still have room to connect your risers to the 1x slots. Something that isn't possible witht he pro btc boards
@indytim No, you can use either type. With unpowered risers you have to connect your PSU to the 2 molex aux power connectors on the MB. The H97 only has 1 such connector. If you use powered risers, those power connections to the MB aren't required.
@Amph Yes, yes, yes. Both the H81 and the H97 can use both powered and unpowered risers.
with 6 card? so the second molex is useless mmh, anyway the h97 cost more, and here on amazon i still see plenty of h81 pro btc, so no reason to switch
talking about the h81 pro btc someone has the correct distance between the screw hole? i can not measure mine right now, very, they are in a tricky position, i need it to do another open frame
