@greenuser i have no word for what you did there, i don't understand most of the things you did but it looks f*** genius!!! great job... i wish i could play with this things like you hehe
@ciprianpt Thank you. I'm old and i don't work no more so i have lots of time to play around with stuff. I could buy new i guess but just having fun. My eyes are real bad these days but i can still switch a fine pitch ic from a PCB if i work with it 4inches from my face. It just takes longer now. Better than jigsaws and knitting hay?

haha.. yeah true!! Is nice having fun building something even if you have the money to buy them ready out of the box, more satisfaction i guess.. i was doing the same as you if had the knowledge.. so again great job!
Block found in the night last night. Again, why do they always come at night? 53 days in and the £300 hardware has reached Return On Investment already! (living on half rations was not totaly wasted)
All i am out of pocket for now is my electric running costs. (I am on 90 day invoicing and the bill is due in around 40 days - and i don't have the money to pay that at the mo) 2 more blocks to find an i have that covered too. Once that arrives the first block each month will pay running costs, after that, any other blocks found in that month will be my payment for my labour.
So when PoS arrives in November or DAG gets over 2 GB (around the same time) and mining is over... i will finally find out if it would have been more profitable devoting that time to an employer on min wage rather than spending my time filling my head up with all this altcoin baloney. Also, i lost weight on my half ration run. I hope i get to eat a steak or at least get a chance to put some weight back on before winter.
I remember when you could get a job in tech and know what your wages were going to be this side of Christmas. How times have changed.
Welcome to the wonderful world of mining. Pitiful substitute for real jobs. Just need eth price to move up some more, fingers crossed hay. If it goes to $100 i will eat meat every day
@stoon I love your setup! I'm building something similar for my case/rig case. Out of curiosity why the non powered risers?
When I started, I copied the @bitsbetrippin setups. The videos were simple and easy to copy. After being more involved and doing my own testing I like the USB risers better. I'm thinking of changing all my rigs over to the USB and having the motherboard off to the side with the cards vertical. It seems to keep the heat off the cards but does costs a bit more.
@stoon what is that tall case for the rigs? I need that
Ya you can buy them at the hardware store. On sale for around $50. Make sure you get the one with a higher weight rating because the cheep ones will sage a lot with the heat.
I think you might want to alter your cleaning technique. I would suggest not standing on network cable next time your girlfriend does maintenance, lol.
@big_MIKE Hillariously, I looked at the picture and immediately told her someone would comment that she was standing on the ethernet cable =p. She weighs so little (under half my weight - I has muscle) I'm sure the cable is okay at least.
I'm now waiting for someone to ask what the second PSU is. =]
Teaser: I have my first of 4 Radeon Pro Duos arriving this week (order was split into 2 because of backlog). Planning to a "glory/dream" rig with maximum hashrate, mainly for kicks (cool factor, hello?), partly because I've done so well with my R9 290s that zi bought long ago, and because I have a good feeling about resale.

Waiting for RX 480s... NCIX has the categories up now, heh, but no products. Saw two pre-orders from small places but with insane prices.

A new test rig of mine. Using Ref 12 x 290's with @Heliox recommended 390 mod roms. Still needs work with more air flow control and mounting the PSU's. Hope to get that under control this long weekend.
Looks awesome, @stoon. I've personally found that the best thing for keeping those cards cool is to place the intake fan as close to the ground as possible. Tried lots of designs for airflow, and concluded that the things that matter are having the intake as low/unobstructed as possible, and then to exhaust the hot air away.
@stoon Looks amazing, great job! I'm currently working on a few solutions to cool my ref R9 290s as well.
@work Is this how you set up yours (vertically) as well? Mine are currently horizontal with a box fan blowing on them, but they get to about 82 degrees even with the gpu fan set at 80%

Your girl has the exact same backside view as mine..
Ok, i have to get her so far doing "almost " the same thing.. (altough she hates those dustsucker/jets/ugly things)
Awesome picture none the less!

@Heliox, and where exactly is your girl?

Does anyone have a Pro Duo benchmark? Now I've pulled my holdings and POS looks very uncertain, I'm half considering such a build....
A used 295x2 pulls 62 MH/s and costs 500€...
So yes - it might be cool. But it isn't profitable in any way.
