New to the forums. Thanks for having me.

I currently have this mobo - https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/SABERTOOTH_Z97_MARK_1/
I originally bought it for gaming some time ago, but it's just been collecting dust.

I am looking at 3 MSI Radeon R9 390X - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127872&cm_re=amd_r9-_-14-127-872-_-Product
Is this a good card? Is there a better option or value?
Whats a good power supply?
I was planning on going with the Ubuntu 14.04 LTS distro, is this a good choice?

I have watched hardware mining for years and read quite a bit about it, but this is my first build.
Any help is appreciated.

R9-390X advantage over cheaper R9-280x is only on 8GB memory and a little bit faster clock, currently DAG size is about 1.5GB, and will reach 3GB (which is max of R9 280x) approximately at the end of 2016 (assuming we are still doing POW mining)

R9-390X price is on average 2x of R9-280x, but the hash power is only 1.2x of R9-280x
so instead of 3x R9-390x you could have 6x R9 280x, which should give you almost ~2x hashrate
