Do you have port 30303 forwarded on your router to the IP address of the system running 'geth'? Does you system's firewall allow port 30303 in? If not, you are not making peer connections to keep the blocks coming in.

Port 30303 must be open - that's the port peer connections come in on. You cannot make peer connections if port 30303 is not open.
