Geth question about my account.

Totally new. Still wrapping my head around all of this.

I started with Geth. I created two accounts (just messing around)

geth account list
Account #0: {9a8ba9557b41ab780da64f23cd62a16666c7cb38}
Account #1: {0ab18a45c1f12bd487ccd4fbb231480df6fde108}

(or via the console)

> eth.accounts
["0x9a8ba9557b41ab780da64f23cd62a16666c7cb38", "0x0ab18a45c1f12bd487ccd4fbb231480df6fde108"]

I've gotten just a few Ether into the first account - as can be seen here :
https://etherchain.org/account/0x9a8ba9557b41ab780da64f23cd62a16666c7cb38#txreceived

BUT when looking at the balance via the console it shows zero

> web3.fromWei(eth.getBalance(eth.coinbase), "ether")
0

But I'm clearly doing something wrong. I've also installed Eth & AlethZero- Cpp Implementation - but I'm unsure if I can import those two accounts from Geth over to the Eth/Alethzero stuff (i've poked around but nothing is obvious and the key import doesn't seem to fit).

Thoughts/Suggestions? Thanks!

    I'll take a look this evening when I have access again. But you make a good point. I did notice if I ran any of the .exes that came with the Eth/Alethzero-Cpp implementation that upnp would do it's job and connect to the network. But it's very possible my geth install hasn't.

    Let the syncronization finish. Odds are, the block where your incoming tx is at is not downloaded yet. :smile:

    I had thought that but I sit here with

    I1204 22:00:57.988154 5988 blockchain.go:1142] imported 0 block(s) (0 queued 256 ignored) including 0 txs in 1m6.8026689s. #1983 [d8c37e7f / 187ad07f]

    So it looks to me like it's complete (i've watched it actually import blocks when I first installed a few weeks back). But I have time to try what ordoe suggested so lets see!

    edit: i realize I didn't understand what I was seeing here.

    Ok.

    > net.peerCount
    11

    Welp looks like upnp is doing its job (i dont have any forwarding done). Unless that # should be MUCH higher.

    This however is concerning

    eth.blockNumber
    0

    I *know* I've watched it download the chain. Perhaps not all of it - but there should be *something*

    Interestingly my chaindata folder is almost 3gb in size so it certainly looks like its good. I tried a geth recover and didn't end up with anything.

    So I moved the block folder away and now I'm resyncing.

    I've got a while :)

    I1204 22:21:56.293911 2992 blockchain.go:1226] imported 256 block(s) (0 queued 0 ignored) including 0 txs in 921.0502ms. #17796 [ec6d7ef8 / 345c5dfc]
