Simple contract - but solc compiler hangs

I have a simple contract that hangs solc when computing the gas estimate:

\$ solc --gas simple.sol

The function was meant to compute a natural log estimate using fixed point math with 'int128's where 1=1000000. Aside from the ugly coding (I was just experimenting around), the solc compiler doesn't seem to know what to do with it:

Any ideas?
