It became stuck on block #428 Thursday (moving from genesis to #428 was not fast enough to catch up). Today (Friday) it has moved up to block #438.
The box is a quad Opteron, 8GB RAM, 2TB disk. The disk was wiped on Wednesday and vanilla Ubuntu 14.04 installed. I perfored the install of go-etherum as per Steven's instructions.
The DSL modem/router has port 30303 forwarded back to 192.168.0.234 (the box's IP). The modem shows 71 TCP sessions and 415 UDP sessions. Except for my laptop, the go-ethereum is the only thing using the modem. The modem's NAT table is quite large. The modem reports 2272Kbps down and 544Kbps up.
Netstat shows two ESTABLISHED connections:
tcp 0 0 192.168.0.234:33031 184.108.40.206:30303 ESTABLISHED
tcp 0 0 192.168.0.234:45578 220.127.116.11:30303 ESTABLISHED
The other connections are in CLOSE_WAIT, FIN_WAIT1, and LAST_ACT status.
Can anyone help me with this. The Ethereum project might as well not exist if I can't get a basic node running.
