Getting ETC from DAO

There are some news:

Apparently, 70% of ETC trapped in DAO on classic chain has been recovered.
However, it is totally unclear how to get them.
Say, you had 10000DAO=100 ETC on classic and 100ETH on eth chain.
You recovered ETH on new chain, but i assume that you can still recover ETC that is frozen in DAO on classic chain, of course, minus 30 something % that hacker "appropriated", so about 70ETC should be recoverable.
However, it is totally unclear how to proceed.
Can you setup classic chain on new computer by downloading Mist, then answering "NO", then uploading saved pre-split files from the keystore and let it sync on the classic chain?
