Has anyone tested the newer non reference 480's with 8 pin power connectors (sapphire, asus, powercolor devil, etc) to see if they are getting MH/s results? And at what wattage?
@Iliketurtles - i havent seen them available at newegg yet..do you refresh the page all day until they come up? Newegg said the regular powercolor 480 was available all day yesterday until i got to pay page, and then it said "not available.." - very frustrating
I'm just taking a guess and assuming that hashrate difference will be insignificant. The only thing that would change that is if they have better vram that is capable of speeds higher than 2200-2250mhz, while keeping decent timings.
GPU core differences are minimal at best. In fact, seeing as these chips do a lot better at any clock when UNDERvolted, there is very little difference between reference and AIB designs in regards to overclocking. And as I alluded to above, its the vram that makes all the difference.
Hello, here my findings so far. Watt are for the whole system. (expect card and riser )
RX470 seems to stuck on 25,8 ETH but is doing well on sia and electricity compared to RX480. Since my mining farm is running on linux and voltage modification are not possible on linux (so far?) i'm not playing arround with voltage settings to mutch. But undervolting polaris is definitly worth, boost bios only brings more watt and heat.
@peoples. Thanks for the info . Could explain the terms "boost bios" , "Ec3000", and "Watt Zange". I have a good idea of the meaning, but just want to make sure..
Also, it sounds like you are using the 8-pin card, and there does not seem to be a way to squeeze more Mh/s out of it? I was hoping that with more power , it could get up to 30 MH/s, but like someone else said more power does not = more hashing.
EC3000 is the wattmeter i use directly attached to ATX. "Watt Zange" forgot to translate that Its the clamp i use for measure electricity directly on the cables.
Initial impression. Rx 480 Devil hashes at a smidge over 28 MH( stock core values, cranked up the memory frequency to 2250), so .1 - .2 over my reference XFX. The big difference is the sound, or lack thereof. Holding 80c with 84F ambient, no adjustments to radeon settings aside from memory frequency.
I have the Red Devil as well. I get 28 MH with the frequency at 2250. Mine is at 84c in a case with three other cards. The main thing is my 7950 dualx is louder than this card. I got one of the XFX for $300 to do a little compare. Plus the Red Devil is HUGE. I heard the Nitro is the worse card.
@bluelogic , can you please measure your watts in eth mode only and then remove the 480 and measure again. So we can see the actual watt consumtion of the devil.

Also, I heard the DEVIL version was supposed to be even quieter, I don't suppose anyone can comment on the performance of those?

EC3000 is the wattmeter i use directly attached to ATX. "Watt Zange" forgot to translate that
ETH - 63 Mh/s (No Change); SIA - 31 Mh/s (650 Watts) + 0.033 cents per day
ETH - 62 MH/s; Decred - 925 Mh/s (700 Watts) + 0.6118 cents per day
Based on the numbers it is Ether only for me. Plus I can play no man sky will mining ETH only.
System Idle: 120w
Core: 0%, 1075mV
Mem: 2250 MHz, 900mV
Eth only: 330w/28 hash @zorvalth
Dual dcr35 : 370w / 27.7/485 @core16
Edit: On a bronze psu.
