@Koody Any trick to getting it to go above 2100 on memory? My ASIC quality is 85% so I should be able to clock it higher but it just reverts to 2100 every time. No crash just won't assign above that.
is this for msi 470 4gb? like aries above? for me on all my cards i just bumped em up from 27-28 cuz i had some extra wattage on my circuit but for me i run at 27Mh= 1050core/1950mem 880-950mV (these are core volts) 28Mh = 1090core/2000mem 900-975mV (same with these) ive never got much of anything from changing mem volts, maybe stability with max OC by lowering but im not sure the only time i ever ran core above 1100 was when i first got the cards and was maxing them to 30Mh well 1 got to 30Mh, same as u guys have found 29+ is lottery but i actually got a bunch to 29Mh, dunno how stable since i only ran em for about an hour
So I dove into Hex editing for the BIOS and its not as complicated as its made out to be. For the layman, I still feel what watttool offers is plenty. With HEX what you can additionally do is create intermediate memory timing straps and can include an offset in the bios to reduce core volts consumption. With all the tweking I could do, the BEST I can get my RX 470's is to hash at 25.6 Mh/s while consuming 90W from the wall (GPUZ is like 54W), with a 5 card system at 510W with a lot of bios editing in hex (not polaris). This was a part of my pet 250Mh/s with 1KW at the wall single frame rig/project that I finally achieved yesterday. Its got two 5 card systems in one compact open frame. I will be setting up my 4th such rig to touch 1Gh/s soon. I have a power ceiling at my place that limits how many rigs I can have running, so most of my research and efforts have been focused into efficiency and not peak performance. Also, the cards run cool, have 0 memory errors, are significantly undervolted and most importantly the risers run cool so i'm insuring a good long run for my hardware.
I think we all know by now that these cards can be pushed pretty hard. But unless you have a proper cooling setup with ducts and air conditioners, and unless you are sure that you are going to dump these cards when ETH goes POS, I would not recommend pushing them to the edge. Find a suitable balance and stick to it, even for perf enthusiasts 27 Mh/s is what you should be happy at with a RX 470 4GB running 24/7. I've made my peace with less.

Hey all, any suggestions for a nitro rx 470 8gb with a low asic quality (65%). also, if anyone has the stock bios's. It would be helpful. I cant seem to get this thing to accept any of the communityt bios
@RavinderDhillon any chance you can document or share the process? That would be very helpful for those of us using Linux based systems and therefor not having access to Wattool..

Save your cards bios using atiwinflash. Then edit it using polaris bios editor. Then flash it back with atiwinflash. Do not use other peoples roms.

I would like to have my rigs run stable for a few days before I share the rom with others. Give me a few days. If you have a large farm and are on linux for easy management, then you don't need my rom. If you have a small setup ( less than 1Gh/s ), then switch to windows 10, its completely hassle free and gives you so many tweaking options. You can get pretty close to what I achieved using just polaris and wattool in windows 10. I am working on getting the same results using polaris and watttool so that everyone can reproduce them, and will share them here in a couple of days.
@RavinderDhillon Yes, you get very interesting results. Following your post I did some experiments with WattTool. I could get 25.9Mh/s for 60W in GPU-Z (around 95W at the wall I guess). Which is already quite good.
Interesting thing too, all my card do not respond the same to tweaking. The low ASIC's (~75) seems to like GPU OC better, high ASIC (~83) is very much more responsive to memory OC.
Question, I got 2 Sapphire RX470 nitro 4Gs with elpida memory. I know that PBE doesn't support the elpida's, but for the life of me I can't figure out where the timing straps are in the hex editor for these cards. Anyone care to tell me?
What sort of hashrate do you guys currently get on these cards?
Also, can I still change core frequencies with PBE on these cards or will it f up the bios?
Okay guys, I am having no luck... I have a sapphire RX 470 4GB ref card. I flash the BIOS trying several different straps. 1375,1500,etc. Didn't gain hardly anything. I have been tweaking the mem and core. Tried several different combinations and I'm sitting at about 23.5 MH/s. I see most people are able to get 27.7 MH/s running the same overclocks as I am... So what am I missing?

Strap 1500 should get you the 24 and MSI Afterburner settings: 1950 Memory Clock, 1150 Core Clock will get you to the 27.3 MH/s. MSI Afterburner settings: 200 Memory Clock, 1150 Core Clock will get you 28+MH/s. This is all for ETH. You will have to set lower for ZEC.
hi guys, sorry to bother you :C i am new on this. i have one asus rx 470 strix and got 27.xs mhs at eth. but sometimes i get problems, like black screen or yellow screen. i use win10 64 etc. first i wanted to ask is can i use furmark to check if the oc on the bios flash Works ok? or furmark is more for videos at normal and should not be used on videos flashed for mining? ty
PS: i ran furmark, and after mere seconds, it goes black screen or orange screen. any thoughts? ty
PS2: now i have 6 min so far of furmark with no problems. first attemp was full screen 4x aa, this one is windowed 2xaa.
PS3: I have 20min+ mining, those are some images. it looks ok for you guys? i mean the values? temp, fan % speed, rpm, core and mem clock, etc? ty
Comments
27mh = 1130core/1900mem @ 900mv - 920mv
27.7mh = 1140core/1950mem @ 940 - 950mv
28.3mh = 1150core/2000mem @ 950mv - 970mv
29mh = silicon lottery

Anybody getting a new batch of RX 470 4GB with samsung chip?
my setting now is
1130Core @ 930mV
2100Mem @ 930mv
Getting 29.2Mh/s per card
Mind to share yours ?
