Reported Hashrate vs. average effective Hashrate

Dr_House86Dr_House86 Member Posts: 566 ✭✭✭
I have three Rigs with 6x RX480 each.
One aditional rig is my PC with 2x RX 480, for testing an shit ;)
Each Rig is with win10 Pro 64bit.

I mine on ethermine.org with claymore (V5.2beta)/dual sia intensity 28 @ all and ethi 16
Sia on nanopool
Reported i get 480-490 average effective only 450-460
The Rigs running for days without problems.

Is this normal?
Is this the tribute for the ether gods?

Command line claymore:
timeout 60 setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0 setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100 setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1 setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100 setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100 EthDcrMiner64.exe -ethi 16 -epool eu1.ethermine.org:4444 -esm 1 -ewal WALLET_ETH -eworker XXXX -epsw x -dpool stratum+tcp://sia-eu1.nanopool.org:7777 -dwal WALLET_SIA/Home/[email protected] -dcoin sia

Stales enter into it, as does variance (luck). Then there's the small inefficiencies that a pool introduces, since you're not mining directly on the blockchain. I usually figure a 3-5% loss. So, basically, yes it's normal, more or less. If you have a high stale rate, say 5%, you're losing 1.67% right there. You're also losing 1% to Claymore, as he uses your hash for himself to get the 1%. Since your mining sia, he's taking 2%, and that all comes out of the ETH hash.

    Stales are 4%
Can i reduce them or is 4% okay?
I have the feeling that rigs with <6 cards run a bit better?

Yes, fewer cards run better because of the threading in the ethminer code. I run one "ethminer" per card, rather than one for all (threaded), which helps, regardless of how many GPUs you have on the rig. That approach also means one hung GPU doesn't take your whole rig down, just the one ethminer running with the hung GPU. I also run a farm-recheck time less than the kernel runtime. My stale rate is normally 0.5 - 0.7%.

    Okay, thanks ;)
I tried this with claymore but the thing with more instances didn't work.

    I don't use Claymore, so I can't comment.

Wait did I read this right? You are getting 480-490 with 8 RX 480s? 480/8=60. Is that 60 MHs for eth per card? If so please share all the gory details...

He said 3 rigs with 6 rx 480s that equals 18 plus the extra 2 in his main pc so in total 20.
    480/20 = 24

    Yes ;)
    And this is old.
Now iam at 4 rigs with 5 cards and custom rom.

Theoretically yes, but in practive it does not mean even 1% performance.

DOH! my eyes skipped right over the "three" and right to 6x, ha ha
