I think that we'll just have to wait and see. @work and @Heliox and others were able to do wonders with the R9 290 ref cards by finding the straps and other settings. It may take some time, but I think these RX 480s will be great for mining. I will hopefully do some testing tomorrow night!
HI guys, this is my first post here and i am new to mining too. I am setting UP an eth miner, i have got asrock h81 pro btc and I would like to mount 6 gpu's on it.
I was thinking about getting 6 rx 480, but I have few questions:
1) What does influence the Mhash that the card can generate? 2) does the ram have any influence on the hash rate? (4gb or 8gb?) 3) what is the best way to get the most from the cards talking about operating system and drivers? 4) any other important element to consider?

We will most likely see rx 480 4GB in the uk for 199 which is $260....

Does this change anything in regards to the drivers needed to get the RX 480 to work better in Linux?

I found that update via Phoronix.
