Hey guys, finnaly i can start to Build my first RIG, here a picture before the building and there is only 3x RX480 on picture because the last 3x RX480 coming the next week, probably monday hopefully... I update the pictures in the future of course
@Dr_House86 Are those the hash rates for the 4gb rig or the 8gb rig? When you say relatively silent is that in the same room or elsewhere in your apartment? I really like the frame (shoe rack) your using. Do you know what it's called or where you got it?
My humble rig. FIrst build and planning to add more. Just waiting for the new risers, I'm afraid to keep it running since what I have right now is the USB risers with the 4 pin connector instead of the MOLEX-SATA connector.
@WoolingJumper you know using a direct molex connection to the PSU reduces the chance of fire... Those SATA to molex adapters DO catch fire, and more often than you would think... They catch fire just powering a hard drive in most cases. A Hard drive uses like 10w, not 75+ Watts like a gpu. I never use those adapters.
This is my Rig actually with 6 Saphirre RX 480 8GB, hashing 162 mh/s with 830-840watts for the whole rig, i just need to replace the usb cables because 30cm is too much and not clean in the rig, but i'm happy with it
Famous @boysie settings mate, but don't know after 24h+ running without problem the miner stop working and closed, don't know why... the temps of GPUs are 69-75° with 70° target in wattman

PS : ETH only, not Dual mining
maybe a windows update? check if smth updated. had reset couple of days ago after Windows Crapdate
could you pls post the famous settings... dont want to bother mr @boysie

@wirelessnet I appreciate the feedback, looks like my MOLEX cables wont be enough. Do you mind sharing a pic of your set up? Thanks mate, appreciate your inputs

@Flexin I cant somehow get my wattage below 900watts using that famed setting lol playing around 930-945 on killawat @ 162mh/s
@WoolingJumper, i will take a photo with the rig and the wattmeter when i come back to my home for show the wattage for the whole rig, here in france this is 230Volts at the wall in origin, different in america and UK, maybe that's why i have a difference watts consumption with others country
@un4given, man i just make some research in differents forums like bitcointalk.org and ethereum.org forum, and there's plenty of good settings for the RX480 build, undervolting, overclocking etc..., just research in the forum and use the search function, type Boysie RX480 and you are done, you welcome and enjoy...
@Flexin we on the same boat bruh, I'm in Asia and we have 220 at the wall. Surprisingly after doing what @wirelessnet2 suggested, it lowered my consumption to 910-920 at the same 162mh/s but still not below 900 lol
@wirelessnet2 I only have 3 strings of MOLEX to PSU cables, 1 is for the extra power for my motherboard (h81pro btc) not sure if you guys are connecting it but I do. So I ended up having 2 MOLEX to PSU strings that can handle up to 4 connections each. I did 3 risers on each molex and it is heating up as bad as the SATA cable with 3 connections too. What is your suggestion? I turned off my rig for now, also my PSU only has 6 6pin/peripheral ports. 1 for HD/SD, 1 for the molex to mobo, and 4 max for the risers so 1 string to each riser is not an option.
@WoolingJumper sorry for the late reply. I have 6 R9 390s in a single rig on a H81 Pro BTC. I have 2 chains (molex) with 3 each, enough for the USB powered risers im using. If youre using all powered risers, or if you only have 1 card on the motherboard not using powered risers, you dont need to plug any molex connectors to the motherboard, as the 24 Pin ATX connector from the PSU can take care of that power. I use EVGA power supplies, so I get plenty of molex chains.
@WoolingJumper PRO TIP FOR EVERYONE: If you are using more than 1 PSU, MAKE SURE THE MOTHERBOARD, CPU, MOTHERBOARD MOLEX (if applicable) AND ALL POWERED RISERS ARE CONNECTED TO THE SAME PSU!!! or else you will have power backfeed, and itll blow up both of your power supplies. I was stupid, and accidentally blew up a 1000w and a 1300w PSU. oops
So here is my little beast. I am still waiting for my last 2 GPUs to arrive, I will post an update when I get the last 2 480s too Currently it is mining at 99 MH/s and it uses ~720W at the wall

Current hash rate is 426 MH/s

ThanksShould I remove the sticky tape on my usb risers?

You really need to get the MB off the static bag. You can take a pen and cut it up to make spacers and screw the board to the wood. Much safer!
Damn, I have removed it immediately and placed it on top of the mobo box in the meantime.
Will go grab some spacers tomorrow!

MSI R7 370
MSI R9 380
MSI 970 MOBO
EVGA 650W PLATINUM PSU
I had this left over shelve in my office. Holding books and CDs that never get touched. Threw those in my bedroom till I find a new home for them.
I hope I can squeeze 2x 6 GPU rigs on this thing...
So I should be able to undervolt these badboys and get 30 MH/s per card right? (XFX R9 390)
Case is still not done yet. I have to mount the back fans and finish a bracket for it.
How do you manage ~160mh/s with under 900w?

Also I would like to thank @wirelessnet2 and @boysie for helping me to build it
