according to miningpoolhub.com, there are 5 coins that are more profitable to mine than ethereum right now (not including sia/expanse), or am I reading this wrong?
You're right. But can't say that ethereum is not profitable than other coins since (1)price and (2)difficulty both affects profitability. Most times, other coins pop up one moment and disappear because of their difficulty drop at some point.
hey @miningpoolhub im tired of mining expanse for dwarfpool and sia for nanopool
HINT HINT
Yeah, I will open it soon. I'm waiting stratum enabled Sia miner from claymore currently. He said it will be completed within 1~ 2 days. So pool will be opened around that date.
When we open expanse, you will be able to switch ethereum and expanse smoothly (without disconnection) according to realtime profitability. Expanse will be opened about next week.
Hello I am mining for some time with ethminer and proxy. I never had a problem with invalid shares, till two days ago after I had this mesage " 2016-07-18 17:17:55,408 WARNING proxy # Job timeout. Proxy is waiting for an updated job. Please restart proxy! ". After the restart my invalid shares went up to 50% and more. I restarted the proxy and the miner a few times, but no change in the shares being invalid. My main pool is europe1. Can it be a problem with the server after restarting ? Thanks upfront !!
There was some problem on pool side. I updated latest ethereum wallet to support hardfork but that wallet stuck and didn't provide right job to miners at that time. It didn't last long but it made some miners idle.
I'm planning to distribute some ETH to compensate all miners in our pool. Sorry for inconvenience.
No new miner is needed I think invalid share rose because of new dag epoch. Height 1920000 needs new DAG
I did delete the dag a few times and my invalids went up to 65% !! I have configured stratum proxy and it runs now for 15 minutes, I will see how this is going! Thanks for the help guys
Sia's block time is 10 minutes like bitcoin, so the work polling interval doesn't have to be short like eth. This means their is not much benefit for miners to use stratum with Sia. From a pool side stratum is a lot better for server load without all those repeated tcp connections.
Yeah, I agree. LIttle improvements for miners. It is much critical for pool side because it has big vulnerability regarding DDoS attack. It's hard to distinguish attack connection and normal miner polling. Also this is why miningpoolhub disabled ethminer polling miner even it was completely implemented.

Are you using eth-proxy or stratum-mining-proxy? I would recommend you to use genoil-ethminer stratum connection. It performs 8~10% better than using proxy.
@gazche Blatantly advertising your "pool" on another pools thread is just bad practice/behaviour, especially so with a one-liner that is in no way related to anything discussed here.

Thanks, but it is not the dag. I did delete it two times but no results.

Hardfork succeeded.
Not all pools supported hardfork, so difficulty will decrease soon.
Hardfork seems to work well. I resumed temporarily paused payout also.
Happy mining.

Ok, I will try to configure genoil today !
Hi.
Sorry. late a bit.
Opened Siacoin pool few hours ago.
https://siacoin.miningpoolhub.com/
It needs stratum enabled mining from Claymore.
Currently, we are waiting claymore miner to be released.
(I already received that working miner so I'm sure claymore will release it very soon)
Now Expanse pool would be my next job.
Any idea about ethereum-classic? Do I have to open that too?
Thanks.
Also, thanks for adding sia. Update this thread when the new claymore is posted and I'll immediately switch over
