    Geth: the go client CLI, forms Frontier
    Ethminer: the standalone miner in the C++ implementation
    Alethzero: the GUI of the C++ implementation

    You also have:

    Eth: the C++ CLI
    Mix: the C++ IDE
    Mist: the Go client GUI and web3 browser

    Geth (frontier supported) and Eth are the same thing (the command line interface), written in two different languages. (Go and C++, respectively).

    Alethzero is Eth's user interface.

    Geth and Eth both have a web server to which you can hook your Ethminer to mine blocks. Both Geth and Eth also have their own version of mining built in.

    Mist is the one to look out for. It will be Geth's user interface with built in web3 browser.
