Product Launches
Lots of new prototypes and product launches came out of ETHDenver, which took place on February 15–17. You can read about our team’s review of the event. Here are a few examples of major releases you should know about.

BuffiOS (xDai): MakerDAO launched its native xDai-based lending platform/mobile wallet at ETHDenver. ~3,000 attendees received $24 of buffiDAI (Stablecoin similar to DAI). The attendees were then able to pay for food sold at food trucks located outside the venue simply by scanning a QR code. This platform even allows users to borrow and lend buffiDAI with one another, which can be used again ETHDenver 2020.

Eth This Then That (IFTTT for Ethereum): Corbin Page, who works at ConsenSys and Meridio, released a solution that connects different dApps and decentralized finance components without having to write a single line of code. This is one of the first ‘point and click’ interfaces for creating automated bots on Ethereum.

‘Eth This Then That’ is an innovative new interface for Ethereum-based tasks.
Fortmatic Launches Public Beta: Fortmatic SDK allows developers to build web3 dApps without extensions or downloads. Fortmatic works seamlessly with existing web3 apps, ERC20, EIP-1102, EIP-712, and more. For developers, this project already has plenty of documentation needed to get started building innovative dApps. Fortmatic is also putting a lot of emphasis on providing a solution that improves UX for mainstream adoption.

Fortmatic launched its public beta and Launch Partner Program at ETHDenver 2019.

Development News
Schoedon Quits Ethereum: Afri Schoedon, a developer we featured in The Ethereum Report #1, has decided to quit working as a member of the Ethereum core development team . Schoedon cited attacks against him on social media as the main reason for this decision.

Various people claimed that Schoedon’s work on Ethereum could be considered a conflict of interest since he is also working on Polkadot, a project that is working on the launch of its own blockchain technology. Some even directly blamed Schoedon for the Constantinople delays.

In response to this news, a group of Ethereum open-source developers wrote an open letter supporting Schoedon’s work and condemning the ‘toxic’ behavior that led him to quit. Speaking at ETHDenver, Andreas Antonopoulos, writer of “Mastering Ethereum”, warned against such in-fighting that can cause fragmentation within the Ethereum community.

Samsung ETH integration on Galaxy S10: At Samsung’s Unpacked event, the mobile phone producer officially confirmed that its flagship device would include a built-in crypto wallet with “secure storage backed by hardware, which houses your private keys for blockchain-enabled mobile services.” Ethereum will be among the device’s supported cryptocurrencies upon launch.

The new Samsung Galaxy S10 will include support for ETH.
Developer Spotlight: Petr Korolev
Not only did Petr Korolev work on BuffiOS (featured above) but he also worked on zDAI, one of the Impact Track winners at ETHDenver. Korolev is the current Founder/CEO of BANKEX Foundation and previously worked as the Head of Blockchain Development at Bankex.

Additionally, Korolev is a co-founder of Matter Inc. where he focuses on blockchain scalability solutions like the implementation of Plasma Protocol (research on State Channels and Sidechain solutions), privacy technologies (zkSNARKS, Bulletproof, Confidentialtransactions), and much more.
