OK, who's got one running, give us the scoop? I wasn't able to grab one in the local store, there were already 3 people waiting when I got there (only 3 available at my store)
At work right now but was able to break away to buy one... Will install tonight after work. Hopefully with some tweaking, we can get some decent numbers...
Yeah, not looking good, but who knows what magic Claymore, @Wolf0 and @Heliox can come up with... There are a lot of other gifted people on this forum as well that can change BIOS. I read somewhere that the FE versions were locked down. Don't know if this is true with the new RX Vegas as well. We'll see...
I got the XFX RX Vega 64 this morning and i've been playing with it. Best so far i got was 39.5 but not stable. Right now it's sitting stable at 36-37
That's the one I got as well. Hopefully we can tweak a little more out of it with custom timings and undervolting. Have you exported the bios and tried reflashing or just overclocking?
Anyone know about the vega 56 pre orders? Heard it was meant to be today but haven't seen anything yet
I think vega 56 comes out on the 18th I didn't hear anything about preorders.
Hmm, Sure I read somewhere that it was the 14th for Pre Orders. Few more days to wait then I guess
Let's hope the price isn't extortionate. If the 64 is only getting 36 - 37 at best stable without a BIOS mod it doesn't look to great for the 56.
in canada vega 64 air cooled is 840 on newegg and gtx 1080 is only 660 on newegg. seems kinda weird because they're similar in performance but kinda high price difference.

That's crazy - Clearly the sellers are upping the price because it's a new card - Here (UK) we have the 64 on some sites at around £450 (now sold out) which equates to $742.41. Which is still more than the 1080. At those prices I think I take 3 1080's for slightly more and save on the power consumption.
Looking at the current Mhs / price for the new vega cards it may be better to stay with the Rx 480's

Yeah still gonna keep my 570's rigs hashing, kinda sucks that there not getting anywhere near the 100mh/s people thought they would.
All the RX series are locked, doesn't stop us running custom bios just need to wait until a patchier is available, its flashable which is the important thing now clever ppl will update/write app to let simple folk like me fiddle.

Don't be too sure of it - system will not POST with an unsigned VBIOS in the ROM. And about an app for you... yeah, you might get a very simple one, but thankfully the timing format is all new. Should take a while before someone makes a shitty copy tool... but more importantly, the actual info needed to create custom timings should stay quiet. Well, at least until it no longer matters.

@Wolf0 Do you think there will be a way around it in Windows? Adding Vegas to an already built Windows 10 PC. I can install linux, but thought I would ask before I went through the trouble. Thanks!

Provided we receive our order (shows on truck in our area) - BBT will be doing a livestream today on the Vega. The start time is predicated when we receive, stay tuned to our twitter, facebook or youtube channel to be sure you catch it if you have questions or want to see it performing.
Our intention is to do the live unbox, placed into pc, fresh install/drivers (using latest AMD release) and test against several algo's on the stream.
Notional start time is 4pm CST, the latest it could start is 10pm CST (if it arrives after 5pm this evening)
If you plan to try the AMD beta, I'd like to see before and after numbers, at least for ETH. I tried to install the beta in my windows 10 machine and it never completed. Granted, I started with 5 cards installed. I'll try again tomorrow with just 1 card when I get some more time.

I'm assuming this applies to the 64 as well.
Hopefully if the 64 BIOS is unlockable this applies for the 56 - But that's going to work the other way too
That link shows the 56 may not be the best investment for miners with power consumption (if you pay for power)
