Cards run cooler when I pool mine

For some reason, when I mine to dwarfpool, my GPUs don't run as hot as they do when I solo mine. It may just be the 2 I have with 4GB, but it's significant. When I mine to the pool they are 65, but when I solo they shoot up to 75. I couldn't find any mention with a google search, so I thought I would try here. Do we just hash more when we solo? I have 2 ASUS 480 with 8GB and 2 PowerColor 570 with 4GB. I didn't really notice whether the 8G cards act this way, I only bother to look at the highest temp usually.
