Solo or Pool - Where is the tipping point?

Hi all,

I am fairly new to mining, but happily mining away on ethermine and ethpool with a few rigs and running about 1.2 GH/s and hoping to have this up around 2 GH/s fairly soon.

I had read a few blog posts such as http://cryptomining-blog.com/tag/ethereum-solo-mining/ that say solo mining is the way it should be done if you have enough hash rate.

So my question is when does it become more benficial to move to solo mining?

My main concern is how the difficulty has increased a lot since some of these posts have been written so its hard to guage if its still valid. I also appreciate the increased difficulty compared to pool setup. I am currently running a geth node at home with ether-proxy to tinker with.

Who is mining solo and how often are you finding blocks with what hash rate?

Cheers
