Old motherboard compatibility with new 470/480

Hello.

I am planning on purchasing a MSI 470 4GB Gaming X, I also want to put it on a used AM3+ Motherboard.

The motherboard is an Asus M5A78L-M LX Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard with the AMD CPU - AMD Athlon II X2 270 3.4GHz Dual-Core Processor.

How do I know if this is compatible?

Good luck! I made the noobie mistake of not searching for new hardware in the device manager and I was starting to get worried when my GPU wasn't appearing in the task manager and the AMD drivers weren't finding any GPU!

@orinity How many video cards do you have in that motherboard?

All you need is a PCI-e slot.

I already have a P5Q-E with 4 video card, but I can only mine with 3!

• RX 580 Sapphire nitro
  
• and a PNY GTX 1060
  

It does not recognize all the cards, only 3 of them..
Windows 10 is up to date.
claymore is up to date.
all the risers are risers 006c and are working fine, I test them in other PC

I got mine working with 4 cards.

nothing wrong with the"oldiest"motherboards on am3+. I have got two 990fx and they run flawlessly 6 cards each.

I wanted to use an lga 775 mobo with a pentium 4 but pc wouldn't boot.i used both my rx 480 and 980 they both didn't work.

I was mining with lga775 mobo with P4 cpu using an r9 390 last year. (ubuntu, fglrx driver)

I tried to add a 5th GPU to my Asus P5Q-E motherboard but it caused the 4th GPU to go missing instead. Not sure how to get the 5th GPU working.
