e·thos, noun: the characteristic spirit of a culture, era, or community as manifested in its beliefs and aspirations.
Recently, many people have expressed interest in mining other digital currencies on ethOS (not just Ethereum). Since many ethOS users are not large-scale farmers, we have decided to expand the ethOS project scope to better serve all of our loyal customers.
To that effect, we will make the following changes to the ethOS project scope in the near immediate future:
We will soon be adding support for a Zcash GPU mining program. Please note that Zcash's extremely new ecosystem demands special precautions;
we will not support any GPU mining program that unfairly rewards any particular developer, pool, or team, nor any that are unstable/non-stratum.
Single-rig ethOS users will be happy to hear about the new ethOS browser-based terminal, which will allow setup and configuration of ethOS rigs by connecting to their IP addresses via a regular computer web browser.
Both of these features will be rolled out in ethOS 1.1.3
As a special thanks to all ethOS users, the zcash GPU mining program (as all new features) will be provided free of charge to all existing ethOS customers. Furthermore, we will not take any fees from any GPU mining program running on ethOS.

...And remember, don't be a bum. Buy one license per rig and whatever you do don't download a freebie or I'll be riding the little goat into your bedroom with a trident between my teeth!
PS...will zcash on ethos require an intel cpu and/or nvidia card?
@SpydrMstrmnd ethOS is still a GPU-only mining OS. We will continue to support AMD GPUs. AMD GPUs are still the best performers in terms of hash/dollar. Intel/Nvidia will not be required.
Thanks very much for this update, a most welcome surprise.
I have gotten so much value out of EthOS so far and now it looks like I might get even more! Nice....
http://ethos1.ethosdistro.com/ Top rig "7ae2c4" is mining zcash.
Your stats panel will tell you when the release is live. Please don't ask anyone on ethOS team when the release is coming. We understand the importance of working quickly.
If you don't have ethOS, please buy it at http://mining.gpushack.com
1st is an rx470 the rest are rx480's all at powertune 4
Let's see how this goes!
powertune 7 rest all defaults = 928 watts from wall @215.19 H/s (not worth power increase)
powertune 3 rest all defaults = 767 watts from wall @210.03 H/s
Leaving @ powertune 4 for 12 hours...
cause not use address wallet, use id and worker + pass
Like you said, hopefully auto-reboot will work when hash rate drops below xxx, not just a dead stop..
Running well, there are some bugs when running 4+ GPU, MSI z170 Gaming M7 refuses to boot with 5 reporting Kernel error, i have some screen shots that i can share with you if you like.
RX480 at stock 37 H/s
RX480 at 1150/2150 40 H/s
RX480 at 1150/2150 with modded Bios 44/45 H/s.
115W per GPU
Now that it is possible to mine multiple coins on EthOS. I was wandering how to setup the remote.conf (pool.txt) to allow some rigs to mine Eth and others to mine Zcash (or any other coin).
As shown in the example config file, it is possible to choose the miner for each rig.
miner rig1 zcash-miner #------- ZCASH -------
miner rig2 ethminer #-------- ETH --------

prxp rig1 zcashpool.place.com:1111
prxp rig2 ethpool.place.com:1111
Cheers.
