Hi, i have been pricing up some mining parts, the most expensive being the graphics cards that i am just going to have to fork out for. I do however have a Dell server that has two power supplies and 5 x pci 16x built in and also two 750w power supplies.
I have been unable to source a breakout board for a dell psu very easily in the uk so what is stopping me from just buying 5 x 16x risers and 5 graphics cards and then getting up and running? I realise I am late in the day to start mining but thought this may be a relatively less risk of ROI? I am obviously limited to 5 GPUS but can anyone see any issues here?

Two power supplies are for redundancy, if you want to use a dual psu solution you need to breakout the second psu. (probably the first also for 6/8 pins pcie power connectors)
And one step further,
I have a Asus B250 Mining expert. (19 slot)
and I have the Asrock H110 BTC+ Pro (13 slot)
I have found the Asrock 13 slot a far superior product. I get weird hashrate variation in the Asus which is isn't present in the Asrock. (And I've swapped just the boards between my rigs to see. Definitely the motherboard.)
100%, buy a Asrock 13 slot board.
100%, buy a corsair power supply.
(H850w gold rated is a good budget psu with lots of connectors. get two of those.)
Or buy a chinese 1600w psu. They normally have lots of video card connectors. I have 9 cards powered by 1.
But... it's made in china... so it's kinda like rolling the dice.
Lastly i was not sure wether to start small and buy just 2 cards or go 6? I wasn't sure with mining becoming more difficult there was much point in sticking my toe in the water with just two, just invest in six and try and get some mining done? I am aware of the POS move at some point so i guess small is a safer start if it will bring any revenue. I was looking at the rx580 8gb thinking they may have some resale and other mining uses outside of ether.

However, the nice things about the new ASROCK H110 is that you can use a M2 ssd and this saves on a power cable. Just make sure you buy the right one though!
I would recommend this power supply
