    @work Given dr_pra's comment above, I guess I don't understand yours?

    With eth-proxy you won't see any invalid shares on a pool as ethminer checks for invalid shares locally before submitting them to the pool. Qtminer skips this check for performance reasons and thus the pool is able to display invalid shares stats.

    I just set up eth proxy and a wallet with Mist. Should I stick with eth proxy or use qtminer?

    Ok I'm in the process of getting it running. I was stuck at step one, and found these instructions:
    "You have the open up the .conf file with notepad or word pad and edit the settings in the file:
    Host and port for your workers: you'll put 127.0.0.1 and leave the port at 8080 (this is what you'll also point your ethminer to, assuming it's running on the same machine)
    Wallet: (Your ethereum account number)
    And the rest you can leave the way it is, then run the executable. You should see a command prompt style window that gives you some information then says NEW JOB periodically, you'll know it's working correctly then.
    Open up a new command window and start your ethminer with the following commands:"
    --farm-recheck 200 -G -F http://127.0.0.1:8080/

    I did all this, and tried to start it with the command above, but it says "--farm recheck' is not recognized..."

    Is that the right command to get it working? Thank you!

    Please add a 24hr payout report. Estimated profits aren't the same as what you've mined in the last 24hr and I'd actually prefer actual payouts over estimated payouts. I can get estimates from a calculator.

    Just use your payout times as a guide.

    @Bensam123 So, the exact time and reward of each block you've gotten for the last week doesn't give you that?

    Looks to me like you have a typo: the error message doesn't have a '-' after '--farm'.

    I could manually add up all the payments in a 24hr window, but why would I do that when it could be a pool feature and it's available on other pools? I assume I'm not the only one that actually looks at my revenue each day.

    Some pools like yaamp for instance give estimate, actual, and current.

    @ThatDudeThere Based on your comments in other threads, what miner/OS are you using — Genoil's ethminer, EthOS, AlethOne, linux, windows...?

    If ethminer, you need the executable command to start, from the directory that it's in:

    ethminer.exe --farm-recheck 200 -G -F http://......
    or
    ./ethminer --farm-recheck 200 -G -F http://......

    The typo was only in my post. I copy/pasted the command off of the instruction page.

It's been mining all night, but I have no idea what M/H I'm at or how far along the block is. This mining stuff is so hard to learn because the "instructions" that I can find are all super vague, and there are no videos that I know of.

    Edit: also I have no idea if I'm mining solo or in a pool...or what pool I'm in.

    I second the 24hrs paid amount. Would be another great feature simply because the amount of rounds is really high. Makes it a chore to add up.

    I'm all for helping someone as lord knows I've asked others for help myself, but please at least take time to educate yourself on how things work.

    Honestly ETH is really not that hard to get setup and working, it just takes a little education on the front end by the person sitting behind the keyboard.

    Here are the simplest instructions that someone will ever give you. If you can't start mining ETH based on this, please move on to something that's more on your learning curve. Sorry to sound harsh, but it get's difficult to answer the same question over and over again 20+ times a week:

    Generate Wallet:
    Goto https://www.myetherwallet.com/ and generate a wallet. If you choose to enter a password, WRITE IT DOWN!!! Print this page out or copy and paste everything into notepad or a Word document and save it.

    After you create a wallet, click the "Send Transaction" link on the same page and enter your public or private key. If it loads your wallet then you know it's working.

    Next step:
    Download the ethereum miner from step 8 via the following link and install it:
    https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/guides/how-to-mine-ethereum/

    Next step:
    Download eth-proxy from the following link:
    http://ethermine.org/downloads/eth-proxy-win-em.zip (Windows Download)

    Next step:
    Once eth-proxy has downloaded, use 7zip to extract it. If you don't have 7zip installed, you can download it here:
    http://www.7-zip.org/a/7z1514-x64.msi

    Next step:
    Once everything is downloaded and extracted, edit the eth-proxy.conf in the Eth-Proxy folder using Notepad.

    # Host and port for your workers
    HOST = "0.0.0.0" <- Change to 127.0.0.1
    PORT = 8080

    # Coin address where money goes
    WALLET = "0xea7263feb7d8a8ab0a11eedd8f1ce04412ab0820" <- change to the wallet address that you generated using myethwallet.com. It should start with 0x

    # To donate please use wallet "0xea7263feb7d8a8ab0a11eedd8f1ce04412ab0820"

    # It's useful for individually monitoring and statistic
    ENABLE_WORKER_ID = False <- Change to True if you want individual worker names.

    # On DwarfPool you have option to monitor your workers via email.
    # If WORKER_ID is enabled, you can monitor every worker/rig separately.
    MONITORING = False <- change to True if you want email alerts when workers go down
    MONITORING_EMAIL = "" <- enter the email address where you want emails sent when workers go down.

    # Main pool
    POOL_HOST = "us1.ethermine.org" <- enter the pool address for the pool you want to mine on
    POOL_PORT = 4444 <- enter port number for the pool you want to use

    # Failover pool
    POOL_FAILOVER_ENABLE = True

    POOL_HOST_FAILOVER1 = "us2.ethermine.org" <- failover pool 1
    POOL_PORT_FAILOVER1 = 4444

    POOL_HOST_FAILOVER2 = "eth-us.dwarfpool.com" <- failover pool 2
    POOL_PORT_FAILOVER2 = 8008

    POOL_HOST_FAILOVER3 = "eth-us2.dwarfpool.com" <- failover pool 3
    POOL_PORT_FAILOVER3 = 8008

    After done editing this file, SAVE IT

    Double click the eth-proxy.exe file and it should launch eth-proxy

    Next step:
    Open a command prompt and type the following:
    cd \ "press enter"
    cd prog "press tab" then "press enter"
    cd eth "press tab" then "press enter"
    cd rel "press tab" then "press enter"
    Enter this command to start mining. Enter you worker name where it says "enter customer rig name here"

    ethminer --farm-recheck 200 -G -F http://127.0.0.1:8080/"enter customer rig name here" --cl-global-work 16384 "press enter"

    You will be mining at this point to the pool that you defined in the eth-proxy.config

    This whole process should take you no longer than 10minutes to get up and running...

    @ThatDudeThere I think the crux of @thesmokingman post is: if his guide doesn't work for you, e.g. the command line stuff you're having trouble with, it might be time to go read and learn (say "Windows Command Line for Beginners") rather than expect someone to, essentially, type it for you remotely (from the forum). I'm not trying to be nasty, but there is some effort required on the noobie's side to try to understand this stuff. Just sayin'.

What you're doing is using the tab key at each line so it auto-completes the command for you so you don't have to type it out each time.

    Is myetherwallet.com safe? Why not use a local wallet?

    @happytreefriends I think you can answer your latter question just by reading through the numerous posts here and on Bitcointalk lol...

    @happytreefriends I've been using the wallet generated by myetherwallet.com and Chrome extension since Oct of last year with no issues...i can understand the concern though due to the issues with the websites that generated vanity BTC addresses back in the day. I recommend it for those not versed in setting up a local wallet so they can start mining eth right away, but strongly recommend they learn how to set up a local wallet to avoid any security risks. I convert my ETH to BTC when the price is high and then buy back in when low, so no ETH resides in that wallet for to long...

    It took me an entire day to setup ETH mining when I first started mining, so my post was more of a quick start till the end user educates themselves a bit more on how things work...

    I GOT IT WORKING! So what was going wrong before, is when I typed "cmd \" and pressed tab, and then enter, it just went to the next line, and still had:
    C:\Users\my name>cmd
    Microsoft Windows [Version blah blah blah....just like before.
    I found out if I type "cd.." (had to have the dot dot) TWICE, it drops down to just the "C:\>" So then typing prog and TAB worked, and so on. Now I passed that, and I got stuck again. I entered the command to start mining, and I got an ethminer.exe System Error box saying "The program can't start because MSVCR120.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
    So I googled and quickly found a solution, only to have ANOTHER file missing. Must be things I haven't downloaded yet, so I fixed the last missing progam, and BOOOM! Works. Thanks thesmokingman for the help.

    Hmm,I tried downloading Eth-proxy and I immediately got a message that it has a trojan in it. Has anyone else gotten this error message? Windows defender classifies it as a severe trojan threat.

    All eth related files (.ddl and .exe) are now listed as malicious and Trojan infected. Norton removed all off my main rigs. Had to restore them all and add to the manual excluded list. PITA.

    Wonder why they are listed as Trojans.
