The only reason I use dwarfpool is because they have a stratum server exactly where I live, so I get really low ping. But if someone could show I would make more elsewhere (im using stratum proxy + ethminer) then I would gladly switch.
@fr4nkthetank Ping time from you to the pool is only relevant if it gets too long. Depending on where you live, there may be other pools, like ethermine for example, that are close enough to give you very adequate ping times. Ping times from the pool to its Ethereum network peers (not miners) is actually more important, since it reduces uncle rates.
@fr4nkthetank for the most part, ping is almost totally irrelevant with Ethereum mining (unless it's approaching 1 second, or you're mining at f2pool).
@rutil, it means that a pool can produce blocks at a faster rate than everyone else on the network.
A 51% attack takes advantage of that by mining a private fork for some time while conducting transactions on chain (say exchanging to other crypto). Once the on chain transactions settled, they can present their longer fork back to the public network which will select it over the shorter fork. This then reverts the public record of transactions and they get away with a 'double spend'

oh really ? I guess that does make sense. No way i'm mining over at f2pool though, its just something I dont encourage. Any pool suggestions ? i'm trying to compare profitability, but with variance, diff change, its hard
"Low hashrate - If your calculated speed below 60% threshold over a long period of time, you send low amount of shares. It's because of bug in some versions of ethminers. Just restart miner. Also don't use buggy Genoil v1.0.4"
So a) are these bugs in "buggy Genoil 1.0.4" fixed at actual 1.0.7, and b) which ethminer Dwarfpool recommends?
Am I the only one or is this a Dwarfpool failure? Miner works, partially very long submit times, no more submitted shares are shown at web statistic page since ~25 minutes.
dwarfpool site down or... i can see no hashrate/shares on site, ethscan shows dwarfpool1 works fine, miners show accepted shares and sites main page shows no shares last 50 mins so as my wallet shares. sites main also shows no excange rate price, its zero. hope its just site failure:/

I have the same here, no shares on website, but my miners are reporting accepted shares.
Most likely a website problem. It has happened in the past for a few minutes. But if I don't get paid for the last hour, this will be the last straw on the Camel's back! I will move away from Dwarfpool with my 3 GH/s!
we prepared new free Android app for Dwarfpool. Just now for ETH only, but we are working on new functions. Try it if you want. Dwarfpool Statistics App for Android >>
@rmh - I dont think you understand what Dwarfpool is saying about empty blocks.. The network is under attack and it is being fed empty blocks. Dwarfpool is saying we should try to filter these empty blocks out like SPAM. He is mitigating the attack by moving those empty blocks to other servers so real blocks can get processed faster.
Dwarfpool isn't compounding the problem, they are trying to SOLVE the problem.

Are you ok with this behaviour? You're helping in the destruction of ethereum.
I think all others would explain the greedy selfish mining with the same cause.
Because of problems, they increase the problem. Great answer for the situation...
